Chalk
How was your weekend? I hope you had fun.. cos I know I did! :) I was at the Old School on Saturday. It was a beautiful, warm blue-skied evening. And the place is refreshingly peaceful.. tranquil! Designer peeps have always amazed me with their left-handed, right-brained creativity. Like turning an old school compound into design offices and studios surrounded by lifestyle pubs. Good thing I drove tho, cos it's a long climb up here from the main road below. As we were getting out of the car, the gardener was watering the plants, and casually hosed down this giant red man sculpture. Red Man was hunched over, panting. With water droplets from the gardener's hose dripping down his chin. Yet check out his "I made it / That was worth it" smile! I remember giggling to myself, cos if I had really climbed up all 173 steps uphill here, I would prolly look a lot like Red Man! Anyways, we went to Chalk for dinner. My belated birthday treat from Shawn! :) thanks hon! Thoroughly enjoyed dinner. We had foie gras, escargots, duck confit, beef stew and the dessert sampler. More pictures up in facebook! Good food and truly impeccable service (a rarity!) It's a great place to go. I had the perfect company too of cos. ;) Sunday, July 26, 2009, 11:33 PM
Lily was here
This is Dave Stewart from The Eurythmics on guitar, and Candy Dulfer (daughter of Dutch sax legend Hans Dulfer) on what else, the sax. All the way back from 1989, when big hair was in and big ballads ruled the airwaves. Absolutely sexy, incredibly addictive! Thursday, July 23, 2009, 10:38 PM
*GASP*
It's been a year since I started working! It happened so quickly that I almost forgot it was my one year anniv since I started work. (YAY i get my certs. BOO that my certs mean peanuts!) Well of cos there are many many days that seem to drag on forever and I din think I would survive it. But guess what! I did!! :) (Thank you God for really carrying me through it!!) I realised it's so easy to grow weary and jaded from working life. Especially days when we are maxed out and I feel my index finger could just break away and run off in protest. And days when I struggle to keep my cool with clients who are morons. But I am determined. So what if I just turned 24. And that I've actually held a steady job for a year, trying to be a responsible adult. So what if my JC pictures look ridiculously like something out of the 90s. And that friends my age are buying flats already. Maturity does not necessarily equate old, boring and wrinkled. (I would like to think I'm neither old, boring NOR wrinkled, thank you very much.) I am determined to never lose the child inside of my being. To still find joy in silly jokes, little things and care bears :) To still remember to pause and smell the flowers. I definitely like the thought of that! Who said that every wish would be heard and answered when wished on the morning star? Somebody thought of that and someone believed it. Look what it's done so far. What's so amazing that keeps us star gazing and what do we think we might see? Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection. The lovers, the dreamers and me. Thankyew!
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone for your well wishes on my birthday :)Each and everyone of you made that day all the more special for me. I really appreciate it! :) It's weird being 24, when I hardly felt 23 in to begin with. But that's growing up I guess. It doesn't wait for you, it just happens anyway. And that's where the excitement is :) I've been down with gastric flu and asthma though. Which aren't a whole lot of fun. I just pray that as this birthday hallmarks a new beginning, my health will finally be back on the right track again. Yeaaaa. Friday, July 3, 2009, 4:30 PM
Chickenfoot
Joe Satriani Sure it's just 4 friends coming together to make music. But my, my.. these guys are all amazing, talented and famous musicians in their own right. Here's a breakdown for the uninitiated: Joe Satriani's the guitar legend (creator of the fantastic G3), Chad Smith is Red Hot Chilli Pepper's drummer, Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony are Van Halen's vocalist and bassist respectively. I'm not yet sure if the sum might actually be greater than its parts. But it's sure worth a listen! You can have a listen here. Check out Learning to Fall. I think it could easily be my fave from em :) |
